Including the exciting forthcoming event. It’s me from 9 minutes in!
I’ve just had one of those hectic weeks where plenty happens, everything is necessary but, by the end, the still-to-do list is longer than it was on Monday. My highlight was definitely being involved with the presentation of medal and certificates to the children involved in Lakenheath Library’s Big Summer Read. I’ll post a photo as soon as I have one – the combination of enthusiastic junior readers and a buzzing library environment made it a wonderful event.
This is a final too that next Tuesday is the launch night for The Backs. Please come along, it’s at Heffers, Cambridge and starts at 6.30. It’s fine to roll up a little later though,it’s usually about 7.30 before I make my speech. Here are the details : Alison Bruce | The Backs – Book Launch. Just email if you have any questions.
See you there, Alison x

It’s the start of June so Harrogate is just around the corner. Jacen and I have written a song in celebration of Theakston’s Old Peculier – he’s written the music and I’ve done the lyrics. It’s been recorded with Jacen singing and some great input from musicians including Craig Fillbrook on guitar and Lana singing the intro.
We can’t make it to the festival this year but, with the help of photos sent to me, I’ve put together a collage from last year. I hope you like it!
Our video to Old Peculier!
Last year whilst at the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival at Harrogate I was introduced to American writer, Christa Faust. And the reason for our introduction wasn’t down to books, but clothes. Both Christa and I have this vintage thing going on. Liking what we like isn’t just about a bombshell dress and a pair of stilettos, it’s an attitude and we hit it off immediately.
The next day Christa told me she was doing a noir photo shoot and invited me to join her and photographer, Barney Allen.
Barney had located the perfect spot for some seedy action shots and as the evening shadows formed Christa and I found ourselves grappling on a rusting stairway at the rear of the hotel.
Here’s one of the photos, for the rest and Barney’s entertaining blog post on his seedy encounter with two of Harrogate’s ladies of crime, click on the link below :
